Farm Labor Housing
The Farm Labor Housing program is similar to the Public Housing program. However, the purpose of this program is to provide permanent rental housing for “domestic farm laborers”. A domestic farm laborer is a person (and the family of such person) who receives a substantial portion of his or her income from farm labor work. This program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Housing Authority has three separate housing developments in the City of Madera with a total of 100 rental units.
Migrant Seasonal Housing
HACM acts as a contractor for the State Office of Migrant Services (OMS) by operating migrant seasonal housing. The Pomona Ranch Migrant Family Housing Center offers fifty (50) units of seasonal (6 months) housing to migrant farm workers, which provides a stable workforce during peak season for local agricultural interests.
